Patterico's Pontifications

Patterico is an LA County prosecutor who runs a great blog that pounds liberal media.

First, read his extended post on liberal bias in a news article, which shows how "straight" news stories are easily slanted in a pernicious manner whereby the reader may only register the liberal spin subconsciously and therefore the spin becomes part of the ostensibly "objective" facts within the story itself.

Second, read his post today fisking the LA Times article that FINALLY reports on the Swift boat vet charges against Kerry. Most important is his analysis of the LA Times' story structure:

So, at the outset of the article, the reader has been told that the allegations are staples of conservative talk shows and the internet, made in an ad funded by Republicans, and leveled by people who weren't even percipient witnesses, and can't keep their stories straight. Meanwhile, Kerry has released all of his military records, and if he flubbed a minor detail or two, that's the nature of war.

Much of this is not true. And it all comes before the paper provides a single shred of detail regarding what the allegations actually are.

Very worthwhile.
