Yanks in a funk

The Yankees, after an excellent May run that put hope back into the Bronx, have fallen into yet another funk. Since taking the Red Sox opener 6-3 they have fallen 17-1, 7-2, 5-3, 3-1 and 5-2, the last three to the league cellar dwelling Royals.

The YES folks helpfully reminded us that:
- This is only the third time EVER that the Yankees have been swept by the worst team in the majors. The Tigers did it in 2000 and the Philadelphia A's did it in 1937.
- The Royals had not swept a series in their previous 78.

This is almost as bad as the no-hit effort last year. I had the great misfortune to have watched the last three games. One quality start in the last five. Hitting that has suddenly become feeble. We made the three KC starters look like Zito, Hudson and Mulder in 2001 and barely managed rallies till the ninth inning.

The Yanks have played themselves into a position where they need another 16-2 run.
