Shannen Coffin at NRO has a quick profile of Douglas A. Johnson, the executive director of the Center for Victims of Torture, who is one of the three named witnesses for the Democrats who are looking to make a huge fuss over if not derail Bush's proposed appointment of Judge Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General.
Johnson is a pacifist who opposed the US invasion of Afghanistan. Today's proceedings will be interesting to see whether the Democrats are serious about fighting Bush nominations tooth and nail.
Here's Byron York's piece on Gonzales' chances: difficult but probable.
