Why the CIA still sucks

In the face of Libya's backdown, Pakistan's about face, Afghanistan's transformation and Iraq's impending exercise of the franchise, ousted CIA executive director (the #3 person in the agency) Buzzy Krongard said the US may be better off with Bin Laden at large:
If the world’s most wanted terrorist is captured or killed, a power struggle among his Al-Qaeda subordinates may trigger a wave of terror attacks, said AB “Buzzy” Krongard, who stepped down six weeks ago as the CIA’s third most senior executive.

“You can make the argument that we’re better off with him (at large),” Krongard said. “Because if something happens to Bin Laden, you might find a lot of people vying for his position and demonstrating how macho they are by unleashing a stream of terror.”

This is just stupid, and shows why CIA has been such a failure at combatting international terrorism. Kill OBL, cause chaos, let the others kill themselves in the fight to succeed him, and start rounding up the terrorists as they lose confidence in their ability to sustain the fight. OBL's "escape" is a HUGE boost to the terrorists. Whacking him would be both just and devastating to their cause.
