There is ONE thing that ticks me off about this Sunday Night EXTRAVAGANZA opening night game between the Yanks and RedSax (other than the 2004 ALCS result): it's a Sunday Night FirstGameOfTheSeason. Baseball STARTS on the first TUESDAY in April and the first game is in CINCINNATI. That's tradition: both the Tuesday start and the locale (the Reds are the oldest team in the current major leagues). And baseball is steeped in its traditions.
I understand the global-appeal marketing binge that led the sport to start the season on special two-game series in Japan, but if MLB is starting the season in the United States, then it should start it at noon or 1 pm in Cincinnati. Make this a Tuesday night extravaganza instead.
