Benedict XVI Elected
It is official: Josef Ratzinger is the new Pope. He has taken the pontiff name of Benedict the Sixteenth. He is a strict constructionist of Catholic doctrine. According to the CBS News coverage I'm listening to, Pope Benedict XVI is against the relativist beliefs and recently rebuked a Mexican bishop for Marxist interpretations of Catholic doctrine. He is against the postmodernist strains of many Western Catholic theorists and is considered the former right-hand of Pope John Paul II. Catholic World News and the regular news services will have more on Pope Benedict XVI.
