The Yankees suck

. . . and their latest stinkbomb is summed up properly by Joel Sherman: unacceptable.

How bad are they? Randy Johnson was outpitched by Hideous Nomo. The Unit had his third-straight non-quality start -- a streak he never had last season. The Unit has coughed up 5 homers in his last two starts, a record for him. Those two starts were in the NORTHEAST (Baaaaastin, NY) in APRIL (read: ball not carrying yet) and the list of boppers is underwhelming (Edgar Renteria, Jay Payton, Jason Varitek, Eduardo Perez x2).

But wait, there's more! Derek Jeter had first and second, none out, one run in when the Yanks were down 3-2 in the 7th and a 2-0 count against stiffy reliever Travis Harper. Next pitch: DOUBLE PLAY, and then Bernie popped out. To add injury to insult, Jeter made his first error since the middle of last season to let a run score in the top of the 8th!

Then Tom Gordon came in down 4-2 and gave up hits to the first two guys he faced to make it a 6-2 game, and was booed off the mound.

And the Yanks have ZERO quality starts since the first series of the year and have allowed 5+ in 11 of their last 12 games.

They suck.
