John Roberts for SCOTUS

I am going to leave the meaty commentary to the Monk - he's much more of an expert than I. The Powerliners - all attorneys - are 'over the moon' happy.

I have to tip my hat to W once again. The smart money was heavily on the Edith's - basically an O'Connor replacement but the President has refused once again to play identity politics. He's chosen by all accounts an exceptionally able attorney who clerked for two legendary judges and was approved UNANIMOUSLY by a voice vote of the Senate in 2003 for his current position on the D.C. Circuit Court.

Since the Senate didn't find him extremist in the least two years ago Bush seems to have effectively end-run the Democratic obstructionists and made it very hard for the Gang of 14 to break ranks.

A surprise and a good one.
