Iron-clad reason to pass over Gonzales

Here's the best reason to pass over Alberto Gonzales for the Supreme Court: he's openly campaigning for the post. Such inappropriate conduct does not bode well for someone who SHOULD have a judicial temperament.

In other rumors, some conservatives are stumping for Edith Jones who is currently a Fifth Circuit judge. The Monk would love to have Jones on the Court because she is a solid conservative. To those in the know, a Jones nomination would compensate for yet another mistake by George H. W. Bush -- she was the second choice when Bush pere nominated Souter.
