NYPD- pretty good job
The NYPD did a damned good job over the Republican Convention. The 35,000 strong force had to police NYC as usual, deal with hundreds of thousands of protesters peppered with agitators, anarchists and whatnot who threatened to cause all sorts of trouble and prevent terrorists from hitting THE most inviting target of the year (including the Olympics). Given that backdrop the fact that some protesters were held a bit longer than they should and were not held in a pleasant atmosphere (were they expecting the Ritz or would they have preferred Rikers?) is, in a native New Yorker's view, eminently forgivable.
