To make Bush-Hitler comparisons work requires more nuanced historical references - to the night of the long knives, for example, as Sidney Blumenthal did about the dismissal of Colin Powell. Unfortunately for liberals, those references don't work as efficiently as islamofascism does for the right, because to imagine the appropriately creepy picture requires a familiarity with German history of the 1920s and 30s.
Considering that persons of a specific religion are not being purposefully disenfranchised, having their real and personal property seized, having their businesses closed, being demonized in the press and eventually being herded into ghettoes as preparation for mass slaughter, I fail to see a societal parallel between 2005 United States and 1933-39 Germany.
Considering that (a) the First Amendment is still in full force and effect, (b) morons like Chomsky, Ward Churchill, Michael Moore and Howard Zinn are cult heroes to the deny-reality Left with the ability to speak their minds freely and get large amounts of money for it, (c) George Soros and Howard Dean are revered anti-war figures, (d) and Ted Kennedy is still the senior Senator from Massachusetts; I fail to see a political parallel between 2005 United States and 1933-39 Germany.
Simply said, people like Albert Scardino are reprehensible.
Oh, and given that they seek to destroy democracy, free speech and freedom of religion, I CAN see the parallel between Islamist doctrine and Fascism.
Meanwhile, the moron of the day is Janeane Garofalo, who equated the inked fingers that some Congressmen showed in (corny) solidarity with the Iraqi voters during the SOTU session Wednesday with the Nazi siegheil salute.
As I said, some people are reprehensible human beings. This means you, Janeane.
