Yankees-Mets -- Whither rivalry?
A few days back the Mets made a great choice in hiring Willie Randolph as manager - a class act, a NYC native and a NY baseball mini-institution. With his hiring though I think we've seen the end of the often angry rivalry that developed in the late 90s -- after all it's "Willie's club" now. Until the Mets become competitive again (and their fans become once more insufferable) Yankees-Mets will be fun but just another weekend of baseball. Or, unless Mets management does something galactically stupid and run Willie outta town.
