The Monk needs to run an errand for her highness (that's Monkette) but I wanted to ring in with a couple of quick comments on today's activities:
(1) Carl Pavano's ERA is lower than Curt Schilling's. Now how relevant is it to the Yankees or anyone else that they sent him to the hill on Opening Day?
(2) The Cleveland Indians, favorites of Buster Olney, Peter Gammons and Jayson Stark, whupped the ChiSux 12-5 today and led 11-3 after 3. This is irrelevant -- the Indians beat Bawstin 15-3, Oakland 14-3, Anaheim 14-2, Minnesota 11-0 and the Yanks 19-1 all before the All-Star break. The Indians won 78 games in 2006.
(3) Remember the importance of a decent first half tonight for both teams -- only ONE team in NCAA history has trailed by 10 or more points at halftime of the NCAA title game and won: Kentucky in 1998, which trailed 41-31.
