As this Washington Times article points out and headlines across the wires earlier today it appears that the Colombian government may have caught Hugo Chavez red-handed supporting FARC, the terrorist rebels in Colombia who seek to overthrow the government. Ecuador's left-wing Correa government is also believed to be found in a compromising role. The Reuters story had indicated that papers or files recovered by Colombian authorities found that Chavez had donated $300 million to FARC.
Chavez is saber-rattling hard. President Bush whom I support has regrettably been Clintonesque in his silence on Chavez in Latin America. If Colombia, a key US ally, and Chavez/Correa come to blows here's hoping that President Bush stands fast.
