WHAT?!?!?!? The Law & Order non sequitur

I just watched Law & Order (original version) and I'm STUNNED by the stupidity of the ending.

Thankfully, tonight was Elisabeth Rohm's final episode. She is the ABSOLUTELY the worst of the various DA sidekicks (in chronological order: Richard Brooks, Jill Hennessey, Carrie Lowell, Angie Harmon, Rohm) because she flat-out cannot act. So NBC finally decided (after three years of fans blasting her performances) to fire Rohm. In tonight's show, the DA fired her noting that her "passion" was better used elsewhere because prosecuting could not be driven by passion but by cold detached logic. So he delivered the Trump line and Rohm's character asked:

"Is this because I'm a lesbian?"

WHAT?

WHEN WAS THAT EVER EVEN HINTED AT?

That is the WORST line in the history of the show. It had no basis in anything else, no basis in the character, no basis in the case and no connection to the rest of the "reason" for the character's sacking. The DA character followed it with two stunned "no"s. He should have said "I didn't even know that until now, just like all of our viewers".

The PaMonk is right: Fire the writer.

Yuck.
